I, too, appreciate a nice recap. Thanks for thinking of those of us with poor memories.
I think its an excellent idea - I do of course re-read any earlier books in the series before reading the new book, but a quick recap is always useful as an aide memoire regarding the highlights of the plot.

I would love this idea to spread more, but honestly, I don't think it's happening. I'm reading quite a lot of fantasy books, which as you know is a genre of series, yet I cannot name any book except yours and Lord of The Rings that had summaries (and only if I didn't imagine summaries in LotR, it was a long time ago). And, well, that doesn't look like a positive trend :p.
So, I can only ask you to keep pushing it, it's a great idea. I hope more authors will try this.
