Evidently you did not read them? The whole series (trilogy in five books) is absolutely brilliant.
As Schopenhauer once wrote, "One can never read too little of bad, or too much of good books: bad books are intellectual poison; they destroy the mind.
In order to read what is good one must make it a condition never to read what is bad; for life is short, and both time and strength limited." I tried and gave up in the third book.
I've read all the sequels and I agree, the first was the best and after that the author was just riding the wave.
