Audra I found zero redemption

Nathan Johnston That's interesting. What did you make the Morocco realisation if not the start of a redemptive arc?

message 3: by Audra (new)

Audra Honestly, I just wanted it to end. I really didn't care what happened by then.

Nathan Johnston Hahaha I guess then we just related to Mr Less in very different ways.

message 5: by Ant (new)

Ant how did he redeem himself? I feel that he just resigned to his state. Just curious. Admittedly I kind of lost my focus towards the end.

Nathan Johnston I felt that his realisations about his own character in Swift were a kind of beginning of the redemption, and then the way he approached his time in India and Japan further developed it. That, to me, was reflected in little symbolisms too, like him giving up on the Lessian blue suit for a grey one etc. Perhaps I'm overstating it though; I might go back and read it!

Ant Ah true, apparently you are keener reader than I am! although I felt that it's more like the blue suit was taken from him rather.

message 8: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Johnston Yeah, that's a fair point. Perhaps I'm overblowing it, but there's a certain grace in him not seeking out the same suit again, which I feel like the Less at the start of the book would've done. But now maybe I'm extending far beyond the character in the book.
