I honestly am pretty surprised to hear that. I envisioned a large white board. You must be very good at keeping track of everything given the many time shifts. The trilogy feels very cohesive.

Thanks for answer and the great question. Broken Empire is my favorite series since The Book of the New Sun. Hard to believe (but very encouraging to me) to find out it was mostly pantsed. I "plan" to do a lot of pantsing during NaNoWriMo next month.
