Hi Mark, love the series and I'm almost at the end. As a fellow author who wants to pants my way through a fantasy story but feels unsure, can you let me in a little bit on your process? I know you make it up once you've got a character but how much is just pantsed? The Broken Empire series has a number of twists that seem to be pre-planned.
Mark Lawrence
I make it all up as I'm writing, but sometimes ideas will pop up that can't be used immediately.
Often what looks like long term planning is just seeing the opportunity to bring two facts together in a constructive manner.
Two thirds of the way through Emperor of Thorns I did have a rough idea of how the trilogy would end.

I have to admit that I haven't heard about you before I started reading Prince of Thorns and by the end of first chapter you were my favorite author. But Emperor of Thorns killed me and I have to say that there was a brief period of time where I hated you, but than I realized that you are an amazing author all the same, no matter how you decided to finish the book. That said I have to ask why? Why end it like that?

After finishing the Broken Empire series a few months ago, I am in desperate need of more Jorg! I know Road Brothers will be returning for release in November but only for the UK. Any news on a re-release for those of us trapped on the other side of the pond? I know some of the stories are available for free (thanks for that!) but others can only be found in the collection. Thanks so much!

Here is an interesting 13 minute talk on 'Evil' Heroes. If you have the time to spare, I would love to hear your immediate thoughts on this talk. As a person whom I consider experienced in the subject matter, could you perhaps say a word or two on what you might have added or changed to this?
