This makes me wonder if having experienced losing a spouse herself & knowing how hard he took losing Lewwyn & his mother, Nikys might encourage Pen+Des to find & take up a second wife as the Idrene to her Florina with the issue to be solved being aging rather than fertility? With the intention being to give Pen+Des an unbroken chain of loved ones as something to live (and stay sane) for. Which brings up the question: what kind of person would sign up for a dynamic like that?
Life is going to get odd as Pen & Nikys diverge in apparent ages. May-December romance is nothing compared to May-eleven decades ago December.
