You mean lines like, "Crew cries for him {his dad} almost every night..." (C. 13, 3rd p.) which makes no sense because the intent is "Crew cries OUT for him..." Or the really bad teeth problems from biting furniture?
Agreed. While I do think there's some merit to the story, I have seen a LOT of 5 star reviews of the book. If it's based just on personal enjoyment, give as many stars as you want. But if it's based on writing quality...the first chapters were MUCH tighter and suspenseful than the latter portions of the book. And overall, she may have a great mind for stories, but there's nothing exceptional in her diction/phrasing, etc.
