Which book genre do you always return to when you need comfort?

Romantasy and contemporary romance!! No matter what else I read, those are the genres I always come back to when I need comfort❤️

Romantasy with a strong female FMC.

Locked-Room Mysteries and YA Murder Mysteries/Thrillers.

For me either Dystopian or a good romance murder mystery 💕

If I need comfort I turn to romance, but fantasy/romantasy is my home genre

romance, all the way. it's the only genre that doesn't have me screaming dying crying

Usually romance but I have a few science fiction series that sometimes turn to depending on my mood.

When I want comfort and peace, I usually prefer Dark Academia, Mystery, and Thriller books. The elements of dark academia books
never feel outdated for me. I always prefer Dark Academia. The old walls, the mysteries behind the academies, how they were built, and what the mystery behind the academy. And I still have a little hope that actual readers will definitely notice me and my book. I'm not perfect, and I don't want to be. I have a world for everyone. But I can also survive there alone. I will definitely complete my series of novels of the single world. Because I didn't create this world to publish it. I wrote it for myself. I am still working on it. I'm pretty sure one day I will make my Debut novel to be noticed.

Though, As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson was NOT a comfort read for me.

Definitely Mysery/Horror books with romance in them. My go-to is usually Prelude of Lost Souls

Not any specific genre, but any book that I have read before and loved!

Not so much genre, but if it counts comics or graphic novels. If it has to be genre specific, anything YA fantasy or YA horror. Kind of a nostalgia thing since those are the types of books that started me reading as a kid and are still my favorite types of stories today.

Romance or Fantasy! (YA of course)

I tend to go to favorite SciFi/Fantasy series of books I know well. Joan Vinge *Summer Queen, Catspaw), Lois McMaster-Bujold, (and Vorkosigan series) Jessica Townsend (Morrigan Crow/Nevermore series), Kate Elliot (Court of Fives series), Garth Nix (Frogkisser, Newt's Emerald, any of the Sabriel universe) and Tolkien (The Hobbit and LOTR) tend to top that list.

I used to love dystopian but I've been finding the tropes very repetitive so I'm really loving sci fi/ fantasy!

For comfort, I read historical biographies. When I read about the early struggles of someone like Eleanor Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln, I’m reminded to count my blessings.

Speaking of murder, have you tried Agatha Christie or Dorothy Sayers? They are the ultimate in murder … and Anthony Horowitz is no slouch!

Anything with a little bit of romance.

For me, its contemporary MM romance WITH happy endings. If I need comfort, or im on a reading slump, I always read stories with happy endings
