A Man With One of Those Faces by Caimh McDonnell, first in this series, was a very enjoyable crime novel with memorable characters and a good streak or Irish humour. My first but not my last by this author! 4★review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The biggest challenge is deciding whether you'll read them in order of publication or in order in which the events happen. They've all been great on audio, too, and are typically well-priced.

What do you recommend?

The Stranger by Albert Camus. In this thought provoking classic where a man kills another on a whim but during his trial he is judged on his morality rather than his guilt. He is guilty of his crime but he is also a victim of a grave injustice because he is punished for not fitting in.

I was disappointed by Jane Harper’s Last One Out
. Totally lacking in suspense. My three star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Time to Scatter Stones by Lawrence Block. This short novella is a late addition to the long running Scudder books and seems like fan service rather than a full-fledged Scudder adventure.

Thank you for sharing Aditya. I really found your thoughts on the Indian Culture very spot on, I think. I try to be respectful of Elders but sometime they really do not deserve that.

Thanks for sharing, Liz. It's always great when a book is thought-provoking. I believe I would struggle with Sydney's mother as well.

Thanks to everyone who adds the book title to their post. I can't read the book covers. Typing out the title is enough if you don't want to link it. 😊
I love a good historical mystery. I recently finished the last doorstop novel in C.J. Sansom's excellent Matthew Shardlake historical mystery series, Tombland. Henry VIII is gone, and my favourite hunchback lawyer is working behind the scenes for 15-year-old Elizabeth, still living virtually in exile.
My review of Tombland
