Well, you will be missed, but I am glad we met and I’m glad we’re friends now because of GR (and other friends). 💕

I'll talk to you in private later about things I can't mention here. 💕
Are you on Story Graph at all? I only recently found you, but I love your reviews, and will miss them greatly.

No, sadly I am not and won't be. I do have a website, though (www . pawntoplayer . com), where I'll be posting my reviews for retellings and Folkloric Fantasy.
Pickletape wrote: "What’s the GR Message of Doom?"
Hehehe, the elimination of DMs effective next week.
Do what is best for you. I am staying a while yet, because there is no viable substitute. At some point the rest of us may be driven to the same decision. In any case, I will certainly miss you!
I will miss you very much but will check your website for reviews. I respect your decision and wish you the very best. Love your candor and all the insights you provide. Enjoy reading for fun and enjoy pursuing many other hobbies, too. God bless.
:( Finding the time/inclination to write reviews can become a chore. I’m uncomfortable on all social platforms, borderline tin-foil-hatty. I’d consider leaving if theres further removal of functionality of the still worthwhile web version. I’ll follow your site 🐾

I’ll miss interacting on here!! 😭 Glad we can stay in touch other ways, and I too will be following your posts on your blog. 💕

I'm very sad, it doesn't translate well into text and there's the screen barrier, but I truly am. I did, however, have time to come to terms with it. A whole year, in fact.
I did contemplate several scenarios that involved staying with and without changes, and I think limiting myself to reviewing retellings/folkloric fantasy over at my website is the best for me. I'll be reading other things, of course, but won't review those anymore. I think I need a different outlet for my reviewing creativity, and the project I created is that.
I'm thinking of still posting my reviews/a link here too, and limiting myself to replying to comments on those and no other intereaction on GR, but not sure yet. There's the alternative of a comments widget added to my website that would allow people to comment on my posts there without having to register. Commenting on websites/blogs is unwieldly and so impractical!

Thank you, Mortsy, you're a sweetie.
I will try to make my website more functional. I hate that the comments section is so hard to use, even for me (and I'm the site's co-admin...). If necessary, I'll migrate it to a host that's more user-friendly with the comments section.
Beka wrote: "I’ll miss interacting on here!! 😭 Glad we can stay in touch other ways, and I too will be following your posts on your blog. 💕"
I'll miss you too, my Goose Godmother, you're one of the highlights of my years here. 💕
It'll take me a while, but I'm going to do my best to improve the comments section over at my website. I'm not paying the web-host to be slooooowwww and ponderous, I already have complaints of friends that want to comment but the web-host doesn't let them. :'(
Oh, and you-know-what is still in progress. ;)

Same! :'(
I've been slowly losing friends and favourite reviewers little by little in the past few years, and it's accelerated since 2025 (cursed year, that one). I didn't want to poof into smoke and leave you all hanging, though, so I preferred to let you know in advance. I'm not leaving immediately, this minute, no. I'm going to leave slowly, so you'll be noticing me less and less active over the coming days as I set up and improve my lil' website.
Thank you, lovely! <3 It's a labour of love, all dedicated to my passion. :)

Sorry to hear it, Marquise, though I can't say I didn't see it coming. A lot of people who've gone pro, or otherwise have projects far closer to their hearts than this creaking old site, have done the same thing. Fair winds and following seas! ❤️
Aw, I’ll miss seeing you guys on here! I’m so glad we met though and that we can talk outside of GR and I’ll be sure to keep checking your blog! Good on you for doing what you feel is right for you. 💖

Thank you, Bethsy! <3
I am not leaving because of my project, though. Rather, the project exists because I'm leaving. It's my alternative, since I will not join any GR copycat sites and won't go to other social media.
(Do I have your email? I'd have sworn I did, but can't find it in my contacts book for the group email I just sent.)

Hehehe, you won't be rid of me so easily, miss ma'am. You're now my manga expert together with Beksy and Bethsy. 💖
I'll improve this stupid comments widget over at the site, I promise. There must be something to be done about that.
I'll miss you on here, Marquise, but completely understand! 🫂
It's still mindboggling how GR thinks it's a good idea to remove DMs and limit comments. It just makes me miss Shelfari all the more. For now, though, I'll keep using GR since the current alternatives don't interest me.
I've bookmarked your blog, so I can read your posts there. Wishing you all the best, friend! 🫶

Feel free to share your email if you'd like, whilst DMs still work. And thank you for bookmarking my website too, I'm going to ask about changing the comments widget to make it easy for anyone to comment. Hope you will too. <3
Marquise wrote: "(Do I have your email? I'd have sworn I did, but can't find it in my contacts book for the group email I just sent."
I haven't gotten an email from you since October, so I must have missed the most recent one. My full name is Ekizabeth, and my avatar in email is my orange kitty. I'll send you a quick email now.
Yeah, I got "the message of doom" too, but I'm reluctant, and at 85, I'm waaay to old, to change now. This is my 15th year with GR so I'll just have to make do with their WTF changes. I joined GR because I wanted read reviews written by "amateur" book readers like me, not created by semi-professional reviewers with possibly 'suss' motives for encouraging peeps to buy more books, you know by getting heaps of 'free' ARCs, etc.
I wish you well with your blog/website Marquise, and I am pleased we will be able to keep in touch as/when we feel like it!😘🤩🤩
These news make me downright sad, but you must heed your inner voice about the matter first and foremost! As for me, I don't intend to leave it so far, as there is still some precious interaction to be had, advice to be shared and I have also grown fond of writing reviews on what I am reading, helping me better focus on, get immersed in and memorize the works I have read. This is hardly surprising as I first joined this website looking for a way to archive my chaotic scriblings, only recorded on loose leaves beforehand :) If you take this step in the end, I wish you the best, bookwise and otherwise, may it bring you serenity, more time for activities that matter, and sheer joy :)
I have your email address and I kept your website URL on an open tab on my computer and also saved it to three different bookmark sites. You won't be rid of me!

I don't, I'm pestering my Cub for a place to move my reviews to. I do have my website (www . pawntoplayer . com), for my retellings stuff, and maybe I'll get a secondary blog for my other reviews or move my current website to a better hosting site so the comments work smoothly.
I've been recced Substack at least 3 times since last year. I haven't checked much of it beyond reading what my friends post there, though.

May I suggest that you use this platform as a redirect to your site? It would be fun to continue the conversation on another site while using GR as a redirect.
