The Duology is now complete - I finished Haunt Me a couple of days ago - it was brutal. They are dark. And I cried and cried towards the end of the last one. I was just in the right mood for it I guess. It's only very loosely inspired by Persuasion. I imagine that JA would have a stroke, a heart attack and a seizure in some sort of combination at some of the material in the story - but it did turn out with a HEA. Or maybe she wouldn't - I'm sure that she was aware of some brutality in her world (there are hints after all).

this is not an audiobook, more like a condensed radio play. I still don't understand a whole lot but it's a bit easier to guess what is going on because there are different voice actors portraying the different characters.
I have listened to the last youtube video a few times now, with the closed captioning and without. And if I understood anything correctly it ends rather abruptly. A couple of minutes before it ends, Bingley enters the room in Lambton, asks her if all her sisters are at Longbourn, Darcy's sister invites them to dinner and then Elizabeth thinks that she's ready to marry Darcy if he ever asks her again. Lydia and Wickham weren't mentioned as far as I could tell. (although there was something about gratitude). So for some weird reason they skipped over the best bit, the whole fracas with Lady C, and the second proposal, and all the soul searching after. I can't really understand why.

I have been following along the text for some chapters while listening to the audiobook and it helps to have the book handy if there's a word i want to google
it is amazing how much the familiar context helps in understanding the language, because I have a pretty good idea a lot of the time what's going on in Darcy and Elizabeth's life in Russian but if youtube starts something else in Russian after the video ends then I have absolutely no idea :O

A Tapestry of Lives, Book 3: A Variation on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It is my least favorite of the 3. More than 100 mentions of Darcy sad that his sister was growing up, a weirdly apathetic Sir Richard Fitzwilliam that did not fit with the rest of the story, and after such fulsome detail of hundreds of paragraphs for all the other courtships concerning the Miss Bennets and Georgiana, Lydia got 2 paragraphs for a fait acomplis. It was an excellent read for all the sickness, deaths, and abuse mentioned, and it ended on a positive note, so I close it with a feeling of contentment.

So many ways that the author's "Lizzy" took over everyone's lives, but so, so, so much exposition and details that detracted and distracted from the character's stories. Still, inventive always gets an extra star from me! The question of whether I liked the story is easy: No. She made the colonel a DRUG ADDICT, and without warning on the blurb. To turn Caroline into a dear friend in the image of this author's "Lizzy" but make of a war hero a drug addict? It was revolting.

I think that the authors that have made variations for other novels may extra appreciate the new ratings for they often get less attention. That would fun, and adding an anthology that includes works for characters in three novels would suffice for any level :)
