Ranger is awesome. I loved his character and continue to. He is what Stephanie needs to keep her sharp and her wits about her. She has a dangerous life whether she wants it or not. LOL
I love Janet Evanovich and the Stephanie Plum series; however, I feel that many authors continue a series longer than it ever should be continued. I laugh out loud at every novel, but I think that every book has the exact same plot and I'm ready for our characters to move on!
I agree Kristin. Because I'm a fan, I'll still read every new book, but that's because I'm invested and want to know if there's any progress (Steph individually as well as the triangle) not necessarilly because I'm glad there's yet another book. Though the humor is always enjoyable, it's frustrating to read about characters stuck in a loop.
I've been wondering this myself! I hope it's something she takes into consideration, b/c she's got so much potential putting the two of them in a relationship!
I agree with Lyss. I can see a spin off of Stephanie and Ranger. I can see Stephanie getting into trouble and it taking all of Rangman to get her out. I am also realy glad that Stephanie and Ranger where together. The last time they where together in book 8 or 9 was a very long time ago.
I agree. A spin off from Ranger's POV so we can actually get inside his head and his world. It'd be awesome.
That's a good point, Linda F. And there does seem to be a strong contingent of people who band together to do this kind of mass voting on the internet.
Ranger has no interest in being in a long term relationship. However, JE has to keep Ranger as that delicious bad boy to keep the triangle going. I'm disappointed that Steph and Joe have yet to make it really work. As Emma Ray (Kyra Sedgwick) said in Something to Talk About, "Someday you'll make really great adults.
Great question. After book 17 I almost thing Ms Evanovich is leaning towards Ranger. I myself am a Morelli fan but I have to say, Stephanie probably doesn't deserve him! She is getting more and more immature and I really didn't like her going behind Morelli's back with Ranger, even if she and Morelli have an "arrangement". Frankly I'm beginning to wonder why either man will be interested in a late 30yr old woman who is, for all intents and purposes, going nowhere.
I agree, I would like to see Stephanie make a choice, hopefully Ranger, but a serious committment would be wonderful.
I also think Ranger is not husband material and a spin off series with Ranger would be very interesting. I was disappointed with #17... and agree with Renee. I don't want to see Stephanie as sleazy and that's what she has become in #17.
Gr8 ques. & discussion. I'm a Joe fan & would love Stephanie to end up with him But a Ranger spin-off minus Steph would be good too.
I have always enjoyed the Plum books, but Twelve Sharp was my favorite. It felt like all characters had real personalities in that book; but seemed to have lost them in later books. 17 seemed to have used cardboard cutouts for Ranger and Joe.
I think the characters have regressed in books 13 - 17; they are less mature and have less personality. They need to grow up.
Joe is too self-centered and thinks Steph should listen to him as if he were her parent. What a jerk.
Ranger isn't perfect, but there is more to work with since JE has left him rather vague. He's the more adult of the whole crowd, but his stupid "you owe me", is getting old.
I agree with Wanda. Also, growing up doesn't necessarily mean getting married and having babies. It's more about knowing what you want and working on it. Steph doesn't know what she wants.
I have my own skewed view of this world, and want Range and Steph to end up together. I think they would be good for each other if both were acting as functioning adults.
Ranger has issues (and commitment isn't really one of them) and could use professional help to return to normal day to day functioning that is more human and less soldier.

In the upcoming movie or the older TV movie?
Daniel Sunjata is playing Ranger in the upcoming OFTM movie.
no!!! she must stay with Morelli! He is suited for her much better! I think that Ranger is there for the added temptation but to also prove to herself that she really loves Joe!
I think this babe vs cupcake argument is a no-win situation. So I won't indulge in my own biases.
(But if no one could tell, I'm definitely on the Team Ranger side).
I love this question. At this point I feel like Stephanie needs to pick one or the other and make it permanent!
Actually, I have to kinda disagree with some of the comments that say Ranger isn't husband material. He said in one of the earlier books that his lifestyle didn't lend itself to relationships. Not that it's incapable of relationships. Stephanie's lifestyle is hardly ideal for relationships either, unless she is with someone who has an erratic life as well. Ranger does, and they could do a lot together. I think Morelli is a good guy, but he seems to be a better friend than boyfriend, plus, he said she'd have to quit her job for them to marry. I think if he wants a Burg woman, he'll have to find someone else.
I am shocked that so many put Stephanie with Ranger...I guess the readers are attracted to danger! I pick Joe, naughty enough but still a great guy.
I want Stephanie to end up with Joe. Ranger would have to change too much to have a permanent lady in his life. I like the idea someone posted of Ranger having his own series.
Just because I feel like it :D I'm going to jump in and say that I think Lyss is right.
Ranger is perfect for Stephanie. He keeps her grounded and safe. I think he is a thousand times better than Morelli. And I could totally see Ranger and Stephanie as endgame :D
I love this question. I'm on Team Ranger. I adore Morelli (who wouldn't?), but Morelli has conditions for Stephanie. Ranger loves Stephanie just the way she is. I don't think he would have trouble making a commitment to her. They just might not have a bunch of kids. Besides, Morelli has taken too much time to sweep Stephanie off her feet and convince her to marry him. As for fans, we need Stephanie to decide. Please, please, please!
Don't pick. One may have to go, but think 'Moonlighting" -- once they got married the whole spark left relationship!
While I love Ranger, I also love Morelli. Morelli is a more realistic person while Ranger is like Batman. Mysterious and hot in an almost inhuman way. I think for the long haul, it is all Morelli. That is the guy to have babies with, not Batman... but he is fun on the side!!

I agree with Lyss. Also, everyone's life is subject to change, including Ranger's. I don't think Stephanie is planning to have a baby any time soon. I would enjoy showing her grow, at least professionally. This is why I would love to see her with Ranger. They both have plenty to work with. Although, I can see her ending up with Morelli.
Real-life hampsters have only a couple year life span/ I think Rex would have died a few books back.
I think there should be someone else for Morelli and then Stephanie would have to choose once and for all!
I am thinking Joe would be a better pic. He's more stable...Ranger is fun for the "sex" side of it but Joe seems more compatible as a boyfriend/husband.
The Facebook polls are meant as entertainment for the fans. It's always interesting to see the results, but I'm not usually swayed by the results. The truth is they're not always accurate when it comes to Ranger and Morelli. Our experience has been that Ranger fans are simply more aggressive in voicing opinion (especially on the internet) than Morelli fans. Other indicators, such as talking to fans at signings, tell us that readers are pretty much split down the middle when choosing Stephanie's guy. And many of those readers waffle between Ranger and Morelli. And I have to admit, I'm one of the wafflers!

I don't think that could be considered a legitimate poll. Anyone could get in there and vote over and over again, so it's not really a fair representation. Witness all the Internet polls where little tweens vote for Justin Bieber hundreds of times so he can win one thing or another.

What a cheat. JE did not answer the top ten questions by readers vote. She must have chosen the ones that she was willing to answer.
