This happens all the time! There's nothing like a blank page of paper to make your mind decide that it, too, is blank.

A few things -
First and foremost, prayer. Sometimes just at my desk. Sometimes I'll put the prayer in writing. Sometimes, very honestly, I'll go take a nap and pray at the same time - it's amazing how much a little refresh helps.
Secondly - I'll just start writing SOMETHING. Even if its not good. It eliminates the blank page effect and I can switch to editing rather than writing.
Another thing I'll do is read again through my notes and go back into that place where the thoughts were flowing.
One time I gave up altogether, called my husband, and we ended up taking a trip to Ikea. It was the best thing ever as I came home with a desk to work from home so I didn't have to always leave to work at Panera or at the church. That writer's block was a redirection from the Lord to go do something different that day and come back to the writing another day.

Most of all - I've learned not to panic. Even though I often have deadlines - some hard, some personal, the Lord has always come through. That's the beauty of being a writer for Him. It's His work, His Word, His doing 100%, and He is entirely faithful to complete the work that He has begun when we trust in Him.(less)

This is a stand-alone study, but can also be used as a follow-up to the Habakkuk study. Habakkuk encourages us to choose to rejoice no matter what the circumstances of life bring, reminding us that the Lord Himself is reason enough for rejoicing. Philippians gets very practical with the call to rejoice, in every chapter outlining a mindset that will lead to joy, even when life is anything but outwardly joyful.
After Phillippians there are two studies in the Psalms coming, first an introduction to studying psalms where we will focus on the theme of worship through the different genres of psalms, and then a study of the psalms that speak of the righteous justice of God, looking at the concept of the righteous and the wicked through the lens of the gospel, and the blessing that God brings those who are righteous in His eyes.(less)

Again I Say Rejoice – Lesson 6 Discussion Guide

It’s the last lesson! I always look forward to these final discussions. Yes, it signals the end of a study, usually a small break in my calendar, and that feeling of accomplishment from finishing something. But more than that, this last discussion is a chance to review everything we’ve learned. It’s a chance to reflect to the beginning, just a few short weeks or months ago, and see how the Lord ha

Unbelievably breathtaking!

I am sorry to only be able to read this book for the first time once.

But I look forward to a second reading, where it will be a very different book.

I love the premise of the book - learning to take notes that flex with you, allowing to make connections and record thoughts that you can refer to later. But I was expecting it to be more of a how-to than the theory and rational behind the system. I ...more

“There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, in the end, "Thy will be done." All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell. No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it. Those who seek find. Those who knock it is opened.”

“Remember He is the artist and you are only the picture. You can't see it. So quietly submit to be painted---i.e., keep fulfilling all the obvious duties of your station (you really know quite well enough what they are!), asking forgiveness for each failure and then leaving it alone. You are in the right way. Walk---don't keep on looking at it.”
