Tywin Lannister
Tywin Lannister is the Lord of Casterly Rock and father of Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion Lannister. His wife died in childbirth, and, as a result, he hates Tyrion. He was the Hand of King Aerys, but retired before the Uprising. He took no part in the Uprising until Robert Baratheon's victory at the Trident. He then ordered his forces to sack King's Landing, and ordered Gregor Clegane to kill Rhaegar's wife and children.
During the Battle of the Blackwater, Tywin's forces attack Stannis Baratheon from behind and drive him from the city. Tywin arranged for Joffrey to break his betrothal to Sansa Stark and engage Margaery Tyrell instead. At Joffrey's wedding feast, he is poisoned and dies; Tywin blames Tyrion, but suggests that he confess and join the Night's Watch.
