Robert Baratheon was the first Baratheon king of the Seven Kingdoms. He raised a rebellion against the Mad King, Aerys Targaryen, and was complicit in the murder of the Targaryen family; only Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen escaped.

Robert and Eddard Stark were good friends, which led him to choose Eddard as the Hand of the King after the death of Jon Arryn. He was originally engaged to Lyanna Stark, but she died before they could marry. Instead, he married Cersei Lannister and, supposedly, had three children: Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen. It was later revealed that the children were not his; they were actually Jaime Lannister's. To protect her secret and allow her son to be king, Cersei had Robert killed; she had one of his squires get him drunk before a boar hunt, where he was killed.…more
