Severus Snape was the potions teacher at Hogwarts until the end of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. He originally wanted to be the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but didn't get the job. James Potter, his arch-enemy, frequently teased and bullied Snape during their school days. He loved and was best friends with Lily Evans and hates that Harry has Lily's eyes, reminding Snape of her every time he looked at them.
