Count de Serra Largo
Peter Mackenzie was a son of James Mackenzie, the postmaster at Kingussie in Badenoch, Scotland, and his wife Betsy.
Peter started working for the US Singer Sewing Machine Company in 1873. His work took him to Brazil where he met his wife, Donna. His services to the Portuguese community in Brazil led to the King of Portugal awarding him the title Count de Serra Lago.
Mackenzie returned to Kingussie where he became a prominent benefactor to the community, including providing the fountain in Station Square.
He then purchased the Tarlogie estate, lived in Tarlogie House in Tain, and became active in the area. He had many children, including Cecil, Percy, Lionel, Raoul, Zsa Zsa, Maimie, and Edward.
