Alexander Macpherson was a cattle drover and farmer based in Glen Banchor, in Badenoch, Scotland. He was born and bred at Coronach, a small settlement on Biallid. In 1829, while living at Easterton, he married Margaret Kennedy from Laggan. The couple had eight children. Alexander employed a labourer and a female servant.
In 1855, the family emigrated to Australia, settling in Queensland.
