Daniel MacKay
Daniel MacKay was a Scottish lawyer. In 1697, he was one of seven men appointed by the council general of the Company of Scotland to govern the trading colony it intended to establish at Darien and sailed with the Company's first expedition in July 1698. He left New Caledonia April 1699.
MacKay attempted to return to Darien on the second expedition but missed the fleet before it sailed and so boarded a relief ship, The Speedy Return.
