Kala
Adopted mother of Tarzan ("White-Skin") and wife of Tublat, member of a tribe of Great Apes led by Kerchak. She drops her own baby when fleeing from the rage of Kerchak and cradles its dead body until she finds the living Tarzan, and trades her child's corpse in order to provide care to the living child, much to the chagrin of Tublat and Kerchak, both of whom Tarzan will later kill. She was slain by Kulonga, son of Mbonga, and Tarzan avenges her death.…more
