Kerchak
Head of a tribe of Apes. When raging at the arrival of white men, Kala, a female of his tribe, drops her baby, which falls to its death. When Kerchak and his tribe invade the house of John Clayton, Lord Greystoke, they kill Clayton at the door, and Kala trades her baby's corpse with the living son of Clayton, whom she names Tarzan, "White-skin." Kerchak is displeased, but does not fight her. Eventually Tarzan tires of Kerchak and kills him, becoming Lord of the Apes, but he soon discovers he would rather go read in his father's house.…more
