Lieutenant Travis was the only son and heir of Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Travis of Sinclair, Suffolk; reported killed in 1917 at Passchendaele. His father the Squire died in 1916; only sister Geraldine died as a young girl. A distant cousin of Alan Travis.
