“I wanted to tell her that I loved her, and not in the complicated way I loved our parents, but in a simple way I never had to think about. I loved her like breathing.”
― The Replacement
― The Replacement
“My father gave me a ruined boy to compensate for the fact that he does not love me.
The boy is fragile, broken—broke himself—broke everything.
I asked him why he did it. He said because the world was unlivable. He said it was unlovable, but I think he meant himself. I think he meant that loneliness is sometimes painful.
I curl against him, tuck my head beneath his chin and listen to his heart. It says stay and wait. It says regret. He knows what it is to want love, a love so fierce you grow roots. I hear his heart say please.
He went looking for angels and found me instead, girl of the sorrows, sad but not sorry. I waited for a sign, a star to fall. He reached for a knife and drew branches.”

Hi Brenna, thanks for the add. I'm looking forward to reading The Space Between. I have read and loved a short story from you on the Merry Sisters: The Beginner's Guide to Leaving! I wanted Georgie to give in!
I'm so glad you liked it—and thanks for taking the time to post a review!Dija (Black Fingernailed Reviews) wrote: "I recently reviewed your book on my blog: http://blackfingernailedreviews.blogs... I loved the Replacement! :)"
Thanks, Leanne! I'm glad you liked it :)Leanne 'Bookworm' wrote: "Hey, i loved, loved, loved the replacement. Such a brilliant take on replacement and changeling's. I can't wait to read what you write next!

Just finished reading The Replacemnt yesterday. It was really great. I'm having trouble coming up with words to express how much i loved it for my review! I can't wait to read more from you!!!
April wrote: "Which do you prefer, NIN or Marilyn Manson? "I think there's a time and place for both, but if I had to pick, I'd definitely go with NIN! Also, I'm not a huge Pearl Jam fan by any means, but Black is by far my favorite.
I finished The Replacement today. I think my favorite character would have to be either the Morrigan or Tate. The blue girls were a nice touch too. Aren't they usually a part of the Unseelie court? The only thing is, I think I like Pearl Jam's "Black" better than Yellow Ledbetter, but it wasn't bad. Which do you prefer, NIN or Marilyn Manson?
Kate (A Reader's Review) wrote: "Are you currently working on another title?"I am, but it doesn't actually have a title yet—it's about demons and kissing, and is scheduled to come out sometime next fall!
Thanks for the friending! I am really looking forward to reading The Replacement. Are you currently working on another title?

Oscar O wrote: "Brenna, when does "The Replacement" come out here in Toronto, Canada? Sounds like a great read and I'm excited to get my hands on it. :)"I'm not 100% certain on this, but I'm thinking it comes out the same day as in the US--September 21! (Wow, that is four months away *exactly*)
Brenna, when does "The Replacement" come out here in Toronto, Canada? Sounds like a great read and I'm excited to get my hands on it. :)
