Besides, wolves are close-quaters fighters and it's made pretty clear elsewhere in the book (i.e. Thomas getting beaten up) that a black-court vamp getting their hands on you leads to broken bones or worse - Murph and Kincaid for firepower actually does make more strategic sense.(less)

For example, when he first meets Murphy, he lays on the chauvinist asshole act pretty thick, so he can test her ability to keep her temper and also get a real sense of her skills. It may be that the "strong, silent type" act is put on for Ivy's benefit, or that the chatty, snarky side we see in this book is in response to Harry.(less)
