I didn't really see much in the way of character development. In fact it was that lack of character development or even a believable character (he's supposed to be 2000 years old and acts like a geeky frat boy) that helped to put me off it.

If you can read it as popcorn lit, then its probably worth continuing. Otherwise probably give it a miss.

As for why Rothfuss rated it 5, he's an author giving another author a leg-up. Boosts sales and potentially his by proxy. Just a theory anyway.(less)
