There are many moments in the story that seem quite specific to English. Like when Asad says "post-dramatic stress" instead of "post-traumatic stress," and Carl corrects him. And there seem to be a lot of other moments where there are idioms used that I assumed were specific to English. Is this the result of some creative translating, or are English and Danish idioms really that similar?

The main character needs to be developed (this is the 1st of the series) but I want to get to know him and his secretary/assistant better. The crime they're investigating is really horrific and it's frustrating because no one knows how bad it is; they're just investigating an old missing persons case. As an American, I shook my head in frustration as the cop approached one very dangerous situation unarmed, outnumbered, and without any real back-up, but I guess that's how they do it in Denmark. He's no Harry Hole or Wallander but I think he'll grow on me.(less)

Was this series ever made into a movie or tv series? This seems awfully familiar to me, but I know I haven't read them yet.

Judy Johnson There is a new series on Netflix called Department Q. The setting has been moved to Scotland, and many of the plot details have been changed.
