I read this book to our 8-year-old son upon recommendation from our 10-year-old daughter whose teacher read it to them aloud. I MISS reading about Melody now that this book is over. What do you read NEXT after reading a book this good?

Carmen I know this is an old question, but an excellent read aloud is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Loved it!!

If OUT OF MY MIND were a movie, what would it be rated and why?

Ben I think that it would be PG there is nothing inappropriate at all. I read this book for the first time in fourth grade and Loved it.

Why wasn’t Melody able to see Penny when she got ran over?

Brooke Oxendine Great question. Perhaps because her parents were with Penny and there was nobody to get her equipment there? Just an inference.
