do you need to read the first two for this to be understandable? I love a good trapped on an island mystery but the first two don't sound that interesting to me
John No, the mysteries are stand-alone. But if you read the first two you get more insight into the mystery of ex-detective Daniel Hawthorne.

Arlyne B. I believe this is a teaser and will be the subject of the next book about Hawthorne.

Since this is a three book deal, I thought A Line To Kill was the second book. And the Reeth one will be the third. What did I miss? Other things indicated this was the third book, and since it was a 3 book deal, and Horowitz doesn't like working with Hawthorne, why would he agree to a fourth? So then what is the significance of Reeth?
