Honestly, this book was so bad I now have trouble accepting how anything went right in the first one!
But really, I think one major problem was that it tried to follow the formula of the first book too closely and that meant the plot really didn't make any sense.
Also possibly because of the success of the first book they gave the author a lot more freedom in writing as much exposition and trivia as he wanted,. It definitely could have done with a lot of strict editing.
Another major issue was that the ethics of the book and the characters were completely out of wack and it never got addressed.
I could go on, but I'm going to do what Ernest Cline probably should have and stop myself! (less)
