It's actually not as gorey as some of SGJ's other books I've read, but still is pretty descriptive. There is also definitely a psychological element, but that part didn't unsettle me at all, maybe just bc I didn't feel that connected to the MC (never would make the choices they make, so couldn't imagine a similar situation happening my life). The overall tone is very silly and fun most of the time, with lots of goods jokes, and even when the characters are upset they are kind of upset in a silly and fun way, if that makes sense. I wouldn't call this book super scary, but it depends on what you're trying to avoid.(less)
