If you're specifically talking about the gore when referring to the war as being unrealistic, you should know that the author didn't make any of it up. In the afterward, she mentions that almost every scene from Golyn Niis came from a historical account of the Nanjing Massacre. That is to say, all of it happened in real life. There is additional information about the various battles and their real life historical inspirations in the afterward. I'd suggest looking it over and revising your opinion of what's unrealistic. Overall, book 2 is significantly better than book 1.(less)

And if I understood he built Arlong as a second capital for its natural defenses but I would guess that originally the House of Yin came from a more northern place.(less)
