Hey I liked the first half of book 1 but (mostly) disliked the second half... The character "development" and the unrealistic war (just coming up with the most gruesome graphic stuff one can think of doesn`t give it meaningfulness)... But is it possible I will like book 2?

If you're specifically talking about the gore when referring to the war as being unrealistic, you should know that the author didn't make any of it up. In the afterward, she mentions that almost every scene from Golyn Niis came from a historical account of the Nanjing Massacre. That is to say, all of it happened in real life. There is additional information about the various battles and their real life historical inspirations in the afterward. I'd suggest looking it over and revising your opinion of what's unrealistic. Overall, book 2 is significantly better than book 1.(less)

One of the things I'm a bit confused about it is that even though the Yin family + Dragon province is always depicted as being "northerners" and aristocracy, dragon province is fairly far south according to the map (right next to rooster province!) Could anyone explain how they still have these superiority complex, are incredibly fair-skinned, have despise for southerners, etc?
