I have to read this book again and probably more besides. The reason being is that it so bloody (appropriate) exciting I just had to burn through the pages and consequently may have missed some details. So! my question Mr Gwynne is... Was it always your plan to keep the pace climbing for some 600 pages? Most exciting book I've ever had the pleasure of reading can I just add.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed Valour, and I'm really pleased that you found it exciting and fast paced. To answer your question, no, I didn't really plan Valour. I think Malice was very much the set up, whereas Valour and Ruin are the middle act, so hopefully you'll feel the same about Ruin. Book 4, which I'm writing now, is the end, so hopefully you'll feel a definite ramping up of tension.

Is there going to be an audible version for this book? I have been checking every few weeks for several months (and saving an audible credit which).

Malice was a nice book, but the narrator is not right for it. He literally makes every character except a chosen few sound like they're either 5 year old boys or 70 year old women. I'm sure that has something to do with the low amount of sales. Do you have any say-so in picking who narrates the book? If so, I'd recommend getting another one ;)

It's a real shame to hear that. Unfortunately I have no say in who is chosen as narrator. Audible.co.uk have just purchased the UK audiobook rights for the whole series of the Faithful and the Fallen - four books - and I imagine they will start from scratch, so probably a new narrator.

I haven't heard the US audiobook of Malice so I can't comment, but I have heard varying reports, some saying they really enjoyed the narration, others agreeing with you.
