Do you think it is appropriate for a 13 year old boy who is a jock, not much of a reader in general but will occasionally read? In my flip through I noticed some language but that isn't a big deal.

I want to read this but I don't like starting an unfinished series so I was wondering how open ended it is? I know book two comes out in 2020 but I really want to read this volume already because I'm excited but if it ends with a big cliffhanger I'll wait until volume 2 is here.
