I was a huge fan of Lisa Scottoline's book, KEEP QUIET. It was suspenseful but didn't have gore or anything extreme. But this one looks different. Super-dark and almost Picoult-esque. Does this read like a Jodi Picoult novel? Jodi Picoult is talented, but I find her books emotionally exhausting to read. It's both a pro and a con. I'm just wondering if that's what I'd be getting into by picking up AFTER ANNA.

Who texted the picture of the pretty pharma representative? This gave much needed fertilizer to the seed that had been planted regarding Dr. Noah Alderman having a weakness for young girls. I felt that this was the crux for Maggie who has always been insecure.

Robbie Z I agree it was Jordan, but I was surprised that her presence at the trial was never addressed.

Did anyone feel that the characters and plot were not developed enough for the ending sequence of events? Even the beginning was a stretch...about Anna coming home...seemed contrived....

Is it just me, or was it utterly implausible that [spoilers removed]

Keesha I said the same in my review. I liked the first half, which was like a Lifetime movie (love those crazy things). But after the verdict it seemed to be…moreI said the same in my review. I liked the first half, which was like a Lifetime movie (love those crazy things). But after the verdict it seemed to become a totally different book to me. It didn't make sense that Connie would kill her BEFORE she received the money. Who would do that? 50 Million? Was he supposed to be so crazy that he didn't care about the money for some reason?
I also thought the prison part was weird. If the guards were going to put him in with the guy with the shank, why would they beat him up first themselves? They could have just arranged for the two of them to be alone before giving him time to call his lawyer.
I gave it 3 stars though, since it definitely held my interest.(less)
