We're taught- implicitly or explicitly, and from a young age- that women are not supposed to be loud, aggressive, brash, dominant, confident, or forceful. Hillary is all these things, for better or for worse, and that threatens the status quo. Anything that threatens the status quo is going to be rallied against by people who have a stake in the system staying the way it is.(less)

And I don't bother with any reviews of a book written before publication to the general public. Publishing houses send out advance copies to people they know will rave about any book sent to them for free. I think maybe 75% of the reviews here are honest, you just have to find those reviewers.(less)

Although I wouldn't say that GAME CHANGE is very good for understanding another point of view. 2/3 of it are about the Democrats, with the Republican primary squeezed into the last 1/3. The Democratic section is biased in favor of Obama pretty heavily. I liked Obama, but the way he was portrayed in comparison to Clinton and Edwards was drastically different, with the two latter being vilified, and the Republican section portrayed Palin as a sort of bewildered cartoon character (in my opinion). WHAT HAPPENED is a good book because it's personal, and it shows the mind of a candidate who got the shortest end of the short end of the stick in the last two races she campaigned in.(less)
