Why does anyone care about what she has to say in this book? Enough books from Hillary and Bill and whatever profits they reap. I am no longer interested in Hillary as a potential future candidate and will not vote for her again.

She actually did win by 3 million votes. She had more votes than ANY white man to have run for office. She wrote this book for the 65 million people who did vote for her. Not for you.
Teressa
She is the first female candidate who nearly won the presidency and I want to hear about the experience from her perspective.
Amanda
If you'd read the book, you'd understand. It's a memoir. Memoir... as in a person's recollections about her personal experiences. That's what this book is. And frankly, based on what she's written, I don't think HRC gives a flying fandango in the flaming bowels of the Ninth Circle of Dante's Hell whether you vote for her or not. Especially since she's not running for anything.
Ginny Davis
A lot of people care what she has to say actually and A LOT of people would LOVE to see her run again. Maybe you're the wrong person to comment on a book WRITTEN BY HER.
Susan WW
Apparently you care enough to comment. Why don't we all stick to reviewing books we've actually read. Be useful not useless.
WendyB
I care. She should be President now.
Babs
Since she has stated many times that she does not plan to become a candidate in 2020, your statement indicates that you have not been paying attention. It also seems mean-spirited. Many, many people care what she has to say.
Peter Stanton
Because we don't share your lack of interest in the Clintons.
Jennifer
I care. I thought it was a great book. She's one of my heroes. The book just reinforced what we need to do to bring change.
Kendall
If you're interested in the history of this country, then you should be interested in this book. You don't have to like Hillary, or to have voted for her.
Chris
Amen, Susan. There are people that are pretty delusional about Hillary, and think she was actually a good candidate. I don't understand those people. They want to whine about how bad Donald Trump is, and yet Hillary lost to him. Why? Let's count the ways:
1) Her coziness with Wall Street establishment (she took absurd amounts of money for pay 2 play "speaking fees")
2) Her warmongerish foreign policy. Voted for Iraq War, her bid as Secretary of State saw regime change of Libya, Syria, and Honduras. She advocated for a No Fly Zone in Syria and was threatening to start WW3 with Russia.
3) Her campaign clearly colluded with the DNC to rig the primaries. (via Wikileaks and the DNC leaks, speculatively given by Seth Rich, who is now deceased due to murder, or as reported in the mainstream news, "a botched robbery".
4) Called the voters 'basement dwellers'(Bernie supporters) and 'deplorables' (Trump supporters)
5) Only came around to the issue of gay marriage due to her running in presidential election. Took from 2002 to 2013 to finally decide gay people should be equal to everyone else and be able to get married.
6) Her catering to neocon Republicans such as the Bushes and Henry Kissinger.
7) She went around the country holding rallies that required absurd entrance fees. Taking a photo with her? Absurd fee. She attended PRIVATE fundraisers to raise money for her campaign. Hillary Clinton.. champion of the working class people... (LOL)
8) Her chairs voting against every single progressive part of the democratic platform. Vote against carbon tax, vote against decriminalized marijuana, vote against less war. By the time they were done with that platform, pretty much the only things left in it were schedule 2 marijuana and more bike paths.
9) The mainstream media literally tried to shove Hillary down our throats. It was obnoxious. Most qualified candidate my eye. Only thing she did in the senate was name monuments, a highway, and a post office.
10) Wikileaks revealed not only her collusion with the DNC to rig the primaries, but Hillary's pay to play with foreign governments. Arms deals with Saudi Arabia that gave weapons to ISIS.. so on and so forth. Mostdamagingwikileaks.com for more. It's disgusting.
I probably could go on, but I think I've made my point. I don't expect anybody to read this (especially Hillary supporters) and change their opinion, but I had to come here and lay out the facts. They will cry 'right-wing conspiracy', and sexism, and misogyny or use whatever words they want to marginalize because they can't face reality but America knew the truth (You think that Hillary won the popular vote in any circumstance? Videos of her rallies, fraud in every state, and fraud audits say otherwise. Corp. Media narrative. Jill Stein's recount of the General didn't even go through, the vote counts were so tampered with, that it made her recount USELESS).
This book is NOT a memoir or non-fiction. It is fiction. Just like her recounting of having to take cover from sniper fire in Bosnia.

She's not running again. Doesn't need anyone's vote.
But, a lot of us would like to understand what went wrong with our nation.

She is a role model for me and my family. She is an extraordinary woman who has achieved more than most of us can only dream of. My family and I care very much what she has to say. And we are enjoying this book quite a bit. Its a brutally honest memoir of her experience running for president. Clearly this book isnt for you. Next time read the book (or dont in this case), and please offer constructive reviews. Not your political opinions. This is not the place.
Dominique
You don't have to read them. But FYI when we tried to buy tickets to go hear her speak in London they sold out in minutes. So people do care what she has to say. You don't have to ready this book.

I care. I happily bought the book yesterday, and look forward to reading it. This seems like a weird venue for you to tell us how you plan to vote, especially since she's not running for office.
Jennie
If you had actually read the book, you might know that she makes it 100% clear that she is not interested in running for office again.
Emily
Completely unproductive question. You're not interested, great, so don't read it.
From a purely historical perspective, a memoir by the first woman to receive the Presidential nomination from a major party - and to have been defeated by the single most unqualified person ever to run - is an important read. But whatever. Small-mindedness got us where we are today in DC.

I wasn't too interested in reading it because I thought I already knew everything about her. What a mistake! I admire her now even more than I thought. She's a real inspiration to women and men everywhere. Believe me, I care about what she has to say about our country, her perception of what happened, her suggestions for future elections. My strongest thought...what a waste and how stupid we are! You'll be happy to know she's not running again, unfortunately. There is no one else I'd have more confidence in.

Susan, I agree with your point. All the guys/gals who are speaking of her feminity as an asset for presidency, really shouldn't bother. The sex of the president shouldn't matter. Brains and integrity and vision should.
Women do have to overcome career glass ceilings. That much is true. Still, electing an unable female president is not the way to do that.
PS I actually read the book and I couldn't bring myself to finish it. I gave it a try because I wanted to see how she would handle the situation. She didn't do it graciously. Obviously, every-freaking-one-else was to blame: Trump, bullying, Russians, macho Putin, Comey, everyone but her. I don't like this approach. It's not fitting a business executive, let alone a potential president.
PSS The US people should learn to respect their laws. If the gal wasn't elected, according to the current law, then she wasn't. People should just deal with it.

If you don't care then why would you take the time to post here whining that other people are reading it. Do you do this with every book you haven't read yourself that other people do care to read? You must be exhausted.
Betsy
It was really good. She is a wonk and she knows a lot and she studies up. It is about more than what happened, but what happened is pretty important. Everyone should read it.
She is also historically significant, as others have noted.

Luckily for you, we live in a democracy and you can read whatever you like. As for me, I am interested in this book.
Holly Hueston
She won the election by having more votes. She is eloquent and intelligent and insightful. I very much wanted to hear it all from her perspective. It's easy to criticize. Not so easy to do. She did. And is doing.
Deb
I think she wrote the book for her supporters, not her detractors. I needed to hear what she had to say, and I appreciated her being honest, instead of tactful, about some of the nonsense she contended with last year (media bias, James Comey, the blisteringly negative Sanders campaign, and of course the Russians).
Felix Gomez
We all care because she broke the glass ceiling by winning the popular vote while staying a good person instead of a bigot.
Graeme Waymark
Why do "I" care, Susan? Are you sincerely interested in why I or anyone would read this book? Or are you just determined to be judgmental, critical and narrow minded believing that only your pre-determined bias against the author is what everyone should use to determine the worth of the words to be read?
Let me attempt two tests to your polemic rhetoric:
1. If as Christian, you could seek the advice of Jesus, do you believe that He would condone such critical, negative thoughts, let alone the actual positing of them in a public post. Is Christianity not based on the virtues of humanity, the budding soul of one living an inner peace, and the practice of the 'Golden rule'?
2. The 2016 election was perhaps one of the most bizarre, if not just the weirdest election process for not only all of America, but also much of the rest of the world from Foriegn policy changes, potential nuclear weaponizing of an adversary and, as reported by all intelligence agencies of the USA and most of those of the free world, the actual attack thru cyber warfare by at least Russia of several first world countries including but not limited to; France, Germany, UK, USA...
Whatever any significantly informed individual writes about the election process, it's past and future, will and/or should be of interest to all who read and everyone who cares.
I would read a memoir by anyone of any ideology who possesses such data as described above. We all need to be fully informed. As per the tested philosophies of mankind, one will find it difficult to become fully
and fairly informed if one does not commence without an open mind (removal,of pre-conceived bias) and then continue one's own process of learning and growing by training oneself to cast aside further bias, prejudice and most importantly, acceptance as factual, the evidence and opinions of others formed without the due diligence one would demand of oneself if seeking the truth.
Sue, you have shown an interest in politics, now perhaps is a good time in your growth to seek 'truths'. Consider if any conclusion about a person is negative, Clinton, Trump, whomever....search for the positives. Where we find positives in others we DO find the first threads of their truths. It can be very rewarding. Your comments sound like they are helping you digest some dark parts of your mind. You deserve much better. Sorry for the length but I believe both you and the topic deserve it.

So, are you here just to tell us all that you're not reading this book? K, thanks, glad you got that off your chest!
Supriyo Das
Because it's the value system she or anyone of her ilk holds in a world that is so full of misogynists, bigots and sexists.
Be it in politics, high places, "corridors of power", workplace, communities and so on - in any demography - the conversation has not shifted from breaking the glass ceiling to violent sexual discrimination in our society.
What, asks Clinton, in her interview, makes the most powerful man on earth demonstrate such terrible insecurity? What is this man scared of?
Like so many men in so many cultures are, about women.
So, it's not so much about Hillary & Bill or their future, than it is about the timid and dumb men around.

I personally do not care for her. I think she is a crook and a whole other host of things, however I do want to read this book. I am curious about her perspective on why she thinks she lost, who she blames, and how ignorant she will state those of us who did not vote for her are. Should be great fiction.
Hana Candelaria
I'm reading it because I want to know how she screwed up the best chance any woman has ever had to grab that office. Because I once admired the hell out of her...it's profoundly disappointing.
Jeremy Hurd-McKenney
Wow, good for you. She's not running again, anyway,
Martha Coleman
Not at all interested.. So tired of the subject. Get over it.

For the people who think HRC wrote this book "for them," pull your head out of the sand-HRC wrote it for nothing other than the profit potential. Don't kid yourself it is otherwise. Besides, what's wrong with that? If she has the audience to sell it to, why not? If you care, buy it; if you don't care, don't buy. Go argue politics on Twitter.
F Clark
Like so many political memoirs that I have tried to read over the years, this one is not well written. It includes unnecessary detail. It digresses. It is repetitive. It is rife with clichés and conversational expressions.
In spite of it's flaws, however, it is a compelling read. Although the flaws should not be overlooked as flaws, they can be (and in my opinion, should be) forgiven in that it is the telling of her story in her words. And, a number of the tangents are germane to the topic and provide helpful context.
If one did not already know HRC's motivations for public service, the book makes them clear.
She not only recounts the matters which contributed to her losing the Electoral College, but she also documents them. Hence, she is not just stating her opinion, but offering evidence that is based on the findings of authorities.
The passages I found most compelling (and agonizing) were the ones dealing with
press coverage of the election
the email "issue"
Comy's "October surprise"
the Russian intervention
voter suppression
the revival of racist sentiments in the white electorate.
HRC is not offering excuses, accepts responsibility for the loss, and holds herself accountable for not overcoming the challenges. She takes the time to make the effort to layout "what happened" because at least some of the issues appear to be ongoing threats to democracy in the US.
Highly recommended. A must read for politicos, patriots, feminists, and anybody who gives a damn about the country.

Very simple. People read the memoirs of someone they find interesting. Usually, this person did something worth writing about (good or bad). No need to argue about it.
I can't wait for you to publish yours, Susan. I'm sure it'll be an absolute fantastic page-turner in comparison. [insert eye roll]

Well, the biggest reason why people would want to read this book is that they want to see their hero's take on the big loss. A lot of people still can't wrap their brains around of why their candidate lost ( Despite there being many people telling as to why) so they want to their hero tell them why. So, in other words, this book is for fanbase not for anyone that dislikes her. Some may want to read it because they dislike her so much that they've become obsessed with her or they just want a book to laugh at. That is if you dislike her. I am not interested in reading the book because I could care less about the Clintons but it's no shock to me that her fanbase is raving about this book.
Dmitri
Well, the sore losers do care, I suppose. I mean, who else are they going to read? Milo?
Dennis Tresca
A lot of us care. If you don't, cool. Don't read it.

I might be falling hard for some troll attempt, but you do realise you don't need to like a person to read a book by and/or about them?
Deah
If you're no longer interested, then don't read it.
Catherine Preston
I loved this book. If you read the book, you would see the character of these historical figures as well as the nuts and bolts of what goes on in a presidential election. You would see the great hope she has for this nation and even now, after getting beaten down by vicious people as she worked to make her nation better, she will continue working (and is asking us to work) to make the nation she loves a better place for all.
Lorri
Did you read the book? Is this a review? Why comment on it if you didn't read it? I didn't like the Bushes, but I read their books. I've read Nixon's book. I've read Reagan's. I've read Bill Clinton's (longer than GWTW...lol). I don't care what party they represent. I read these books for their historical value. And, these books are historical, whether you like it or not.
Victoria
Susan - don't read the book if you don't care then!
As for the intellectuals, it was actually a great read and I liked having the opportunity to know her perspective of running for the election.

So, anyone who runs for public office should never write a book about the experience? Perhaps we could all take a collective deep breath and try to be less divisive and cruel. I didn't vote for her either, but I am reading the book so I can expand my horizons..
Olivia
A lot of people who read this book or even care about her at all are probably too young and/or too blind to her criminal and greedy behavior.... it goes waaay back. Trust me, this book was written for the money.
Mark
I am in the process of reading this book and so I had to answer this question. Susan wants to know why anyone cares. Well, lets see. If you worship some other candidate you might understand. I'm not one to vote for or against personalities, so I might look at elections different than you do. And just for the record, I didn't vote for her or p45. So, I'm reading this book because I really want to understand how this process works. Hillary was on the front lines of this election which gives her a valuable perspective. I can only know her perspective if I read this book.
Ariana
Did you read the book? This isn't a news article; don't come give your opinions about a book unless you actually read it.
Ellen McMahon
I think, if you're asking a question like this, you would probably benefit the most from reading it.
I liked this article, published last weekend on responses to her book release (that have been similar to yours). It might offer some clarity. http://www.smh.com.au/good-weekend/th...
I hope you have a lovely day.

That's the great thing about books! There are a lot of different genres and subjects so there's something for everyone. If this book isn't for you, that just means it's for someone else and there is a different book out there perfect for your tastes. Explore your options and you'll find something that interests you and that you care about. And maybe you can peacefully disregard anything that might not interest you. Happy reading!
Ira Therebel
I care a lot. Because I am not a dumb Bernie follower and support politicians who made great achievements in their lives.
Sherry
Why would anyone NOT want to read a book about history from the perspective of someone directly involved? Your comment makes no sense...if you were a supporter of Hillary Clinton in the past as you indicate in your remark, then why does the theft of her presidency by lies, frightened white republicans and the Russians would prompt you to make such hurtful and hateful comments? The only thing that I can think of without an explanation is that this is more russian troll and anti female rhetoric that needs to be eliminated.
Lizzielulu
I found it very informative and I care very much about what she had to say.
DeAnna Lloyd
I care... and I want to hear what she has to say. I just bought the book last night and I'm looking forward to reading it.
Greg
Susan, I did not "like" your answer. And the reason people care about what she has to say is we want to make sure Russia doesn't interrupt our voting process again, and we want to make sure 1 vote equals one vote. And don't forget, Hillary won the popular vote by 2.9 million votes. And don't forget, Trump lost the popular vote by 11 million votes when you count green party and libertarian votes. So, in effect, Trump lost by about 15% of all votes. It was a landslide vote against Trump.
Stacy
Ummm, if you don’t like Hillary...why are you even commenting about her book? There are plenty of people out there who are interested in this book. THe world doesn’t revolve around you or your opinion.
Denise
Well, I care about this country, enough to read this book. Sorry if you don't, but your reading or preferences aren't my concern.
Anna
I can't believe anyone was dumb enough to support this woman and buy her book. Well, yes I can. Look at what public school is teaching now a days...
Jpollyferguson
I care. I can a lot. You should read it. Your opinion will change.
Marge Bailey
and is this all about you?
Sasha Han
That's fine. Just don't read the book.

Why are you asking? Just to be cranky? Good job. You are cranky. This book is a comprehensive review of an election which was manipulated by the conservative media and thousands of Russian trolls, an election won by an ignorant bully who has done nothing but ride through a turbulent, corrupt presidency. This account will be a reference for historians for decades to come. I care less about how you feel about this book than you do to read it.

Then why are you here?
Billie Smith
Then I would suggest you don’t read it! A lot of us still care about her and this book was really great!
Karen Kline
Uh, national security? To know what the former Secretary of State has to say about Russian nationals trying to take over our country? Susan, I recommend you read or listen to this book and suspend your views about Hillary. In fact, skip right to chapter 10 and read or listen from there. If this isn't the scariest story you've read, then you should read it again. Hillary has a unique position to comment on election security and Americans' position in history to have our voting rights influenced, violated, and flat out usurped.
This kind of trolling question on Goodreads is disappointing. Everyone reading this should also read George Lakoff's work on linguists in politics in the book _Don't Think of an Elephant: Know Your Values and Frame the Debate_. Goodreads is a community of readers, and I urge everyone to here to hold the "Susans" accountable for their language and how it frames this community of thinkers. Let's be patriots and protect our country from outside forces that ignore human rights and intellectual freedom, like Russian and North Korea. Let's remind the "Susans" that we are wise to their language of deflection and diversion, and gently and kindly redirect them to read books like Hillary's. After all, she is a primary resource of information and facts in the maelstrom of misinformation that Wikileaks, Cambridge Analytical, and FoxNews have been spewing.

I think a lot of people should care about what seasoned politicians, which HRC represents as well as the many whom she quotes on both sides of the aisle, have to say about the constellation of forces that resulted in the election of 2016. If a would-be reader cares about our democracy and would seek to protect that process from a variety of forces that can undermine it, it is worth at least considering the facts and opinions that HRC presents. There are many facts that can be verified, and those alone are worth careful thought regarding the power of political forces, outside influences, the press, and our own tendency as humans to be swayed by rhetoric, even on an unconscious level. The information presented represents the importance of independent critical research and thinking, as well as our own obligations as citizens to protect a form of government that may be on the wane if we don't all pay attention to the warnings embedded in this book--no matter what any particular reader's political leanings may be.

Only an insane person would vote for her. Frankly, when people talk about the popular vote it is NOT one person one vote. No one knows what that is. It just goes by county rather then by state. So no one knows who won the popular vote.

The cover answers the question...the question is in white...the answer is in blue.

You are very clever, she has nothing to contribute to the debate, this book has much value on the issue as Gone with the Wind has on the Civil War - it will not help you to understand the why or how, so not wanting to waste your time on 500 pages of distentions and lies ought to be commended.
