I am confused at the end.....Anna watches the Polish girl get injured by a grenade...she has all the scars that Anna has? How was Anna watching the Polish girl who claimed to be Anastasia in the munitions factory in 1918?

Did anyone else feel like Gleb Botkin and his sister were just as much a part of the tragedy as Anastasia/Anna Anderson? To lose their father, to spend their entire lives trying to prove that someone close to them HAD survived something so horrific, and die before finding out the truth? To me, that was the saddest part of the novel-- anyone know the truth of the Botkin story?
