Pagination and publisher are the same so it seems the only difference is the cover and the age designation. (For librarians out there - OCLC has the kid's version and the adult version on the same bibliographic record.)(less)

It has a subplot of a Muslim family being treated badly because of where they come from and what they look like. This will probably bring up quite the discussion. Overall, I think the decision is up to you based on how mature the eight year old is and whether they have someone to discuss this with. (less)
