The Netflix show follows the general story of the graphic novel but it by no means is a faithful rendition. I would agree with you that portions of the Netflix show had some cringe worthy bad acting. (The "echo" in the well actress in particular.) The graphic novel is darker, more bloody and violent. The Netflix show softened all that and gave the story kind of a YA (young adult) vibe. I prefer the graphic novel because of the darker, more gritty rendering of the story but having seen the Netflix show helped me to better understand what was going on in the novel. The way certain parts of the story were shown in the novel would have left me a bit confused and unclear as to what was happening especially when they were jumping back and forth in time. I'd guess that you'd like the graphic novel better if the story elements intrigue you. (less)

If you aren’t a fan of cussing or anything inappropriate being in a graphic novel then you would probably not like this book.

Warning—One character named Sam has a nasty mouth and does some horrible stuff.(less)
