I think he got a lot of things right as well, although the "end of history" and "dictatorship of the proletariate" bits didn't age well...
I would also feel remiss not to mention that Marx was an extremely hard worker, one of the most brilliant minds in modern history, and as attached to the "Communist" movements of the 20th C as much as Darwin was attached to Naziism. I do wish (American) people would let the Cold War end and try to read him with even half the charity they offer to quite literally every other historical thinker (Locke, Hamilton, Mill, Jefferson, Kant...).(less)

The same was true of feudalism once, back when it supplanted the slave economies. The history of mankind since the stone age is the history of progress, with each stage becoming superior to the one before it. An actual Marxist might tell you it's more complicated than that, but this is the general idea.(less)
