Glen No. The worst it gets is, "he swore under his breath" (or similar) without actually using the language in question, and that only happens maybe 4 time…moreNo. The worst it gets is, "he swore under his breath" (or similar) without actually using the language in question, and that only happens maybe 4 times. A really unlikable character uses the b-word once or twice in the second book. The strongest thematic element is that of a thriller, but the violence is mild and all at a level appropriate for teens, young adults, and maybe even some pre-teens.(less)

Does anyone know of a book/series that is similar to this one? Kind of paranormal teens/young adults being used as experiments, etc? I've read the Gathering which is from Kelley Armstrong too, and loved it. I just wanna find something to read that is similar as this one completely stole my heart haha. Thanks in advance.

It really catches the emotions of the characters i…more Less paranormal, more sci-fi, but the "Uglies" series by Scott Westerfield absolutely thrilled me. It really catches the emotions of the characters in a coming-of-age kind of narrative, and there's a lot of experiments and other weird stuff going on. I'd definitely recommend it.
However, if you're looking for paranormal specifically, I'd recommend "Suddenly Supernatural" by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel. It's for a slightly younger age group, but still a good read!

When I go to Kelly Armstrongs webpage it shows a picture of 6 book for this series however Goodreads shows there are 3 books. 1.) The Summoning 2.) The Awakening 3.) The Reckoning 4.) The Gathering 5.) The Calling 6.) The Rising -- I noticed their are two series on Goodreads: DARKEST POWERS & DARKNESS RISING -- Is Darkness Rising a spin off of Darkest Powers? Will this series keep in interested in 6 books?
