How much romance is there in this book? if at all? I'm quite romance-repulsed when it comes to het couples. It has to be only a sub-plot (at best) for me to able to enjoy a book
Alannah There was quite a bit of romance (all homosexual) but it is a subplot, and there is not much for Frances (the main character)

I've heard many people are able to deeply relate to the characters in this book because of having gone through similar things. Is this book more impactful if you read it at the end of your high school experience (or even earlier; ex beginning of senior year?) or at the beginning of your college experience?
Vicky I’m going through the college/university experience right now and honestly I think it’s more impactful now - that being said I didn’t read it whilst I…moreI’m going through the college/university experience right now and honestly I think it’s more impactful now - that being said I didn’t read it whilst I was in my last years of high school so I can not compare - but the fact that I can relate to it in hindsight rather than reading it whilst going through has brought much comfort to me as I experienced a lot of what Frances experienced (rejection, burn out, rocky friendships) and I was able to appreciate and empathise with her. I think if I read it whilst in high school I wouldn’t be able to have the same appreciation due to my own denial that things would be great and all work out. But I do think it can be impactful reading in high school or college (less)
