Michele Hane My son started reading this just after he turned 8 and he finished all of them (and the Brotherband Chronicles and the Early Years prequel) in about 2…moreMy son started reading this just after he turned 8 and he finished all of them (and the Brotherband Chronicles and the Early Years prequel) in about 2 months. He finished all of the Harry Potter books last year at 7, so if they can handle Potter, they can handle this. He's now reading The Summoner Trilogy. We ask him about it and he tells us the plot and how each books relates to another. In search of his next series.(less)

I'm wondering, what kind of book is this in terms of magic, guns, bows and arrows and swords, or weaponry in general, and how would you describe the battles? Would I see the characters in the book grow older as I read further into the book series? Or would it be similar to Pokemon, where Ash stays forever 11 years old (or however old he is) throughout the several years it has aired?
