I was severely let down after all of the praise it received. I found it rather predictable and boring. I did start the second one in the series thinking that there must be a reason that there are at least nine books in the Shade series, but I could not get myself to finish it. If you are bored and looking for a quick, cheap read, then I saw go for it. If not, then don't bother. That is just my opinion, but clearly there are people out there who enjoyed it. (less)

It's probably perfect for young adult readers, but I expected much more from it with all the hype I kept seeing. I'm unsure if I want to keep reading the rest of the books, it's not a bad book, but I think it was intended for younger readers. There's no sex in this book.(less)

She apparently wanted to write under a pen name to begin with. And since then there's been a lot of messy drama.(less)

The lengthened edition says within it that "...over 10,000 new words added." So...that's the difference.

EDIT -
I looked in the Librarian change logs for the older PB edition to see if there were any page count changes. There were.
It used to be listed as '154' and was changed to '296'
I am going to guess that the PB page count of Amazon is now influenced by the 2015 rewrite? Though I can't be 100% sure.
All I know it was originally listed as 154. At least in the logs.
So 142 pages difference? If that was an accurate listing (the previous 154).
As it is now, I don't really know. I don't have a copy of both to be sure. (less)
