I've read the book and I've reviewed it as well. But one question strikes me the most - Why does Dr. Sheppard help Hercule Poitrot? Does he misjudge him and thought he won't be able to solve the mystery? And above all he helps him diligently.Why?

I have not read any book by Agatha Christie so far. I'm going to start with this highly rated one. Will these books appeal to me as these are 70-80 years old and we have seen lot of inspired or similar works in movies..?

Hence, limiting one's reading list to nothing but contemporrary works would be like inheriting a connoisseur's celebrated wine cellar and immediately discarding all bottles of older vintage--thereby consigning the best in class to the dumpster. Imagine never having consumed the greatest short stories of Edgar Allan Poe, de Maupassant, W. Irving, O'Henry, Wharton, Oscar Wilde, O'Connor, Mann, Conrad, Kafka et al. just because these grand treasures in reading are over 70-80 years old! Indeed, with but the limited time we have on this earth, it makes sense to separate the wheat from the chaff, readingwise. Time, as it were, has already done the winnowing. My advice, based on my personal adventure, is to start with recognized classics of the short story and short novel and work your way from there.(less)
