It's juvenile adventure fiction in a fantasy classical setting.
It's as much about the teenagers (all under 14) and the adventure they undertake as it is about familiarizing the reader with a version of the hero's journey. The setting involving the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is as much about familiarizing the reader with what and where they were, as it is about creating a fantastic reason to travel through time and space - and save the world in the bargain.
