I'd say that kids will be able to understand the story just as soon as they can handle the reading. In my opinion, there is no concerning content; it's all very clean and appropriate.(less)

Does anyone know the chapter lengths on this one? I am not a good go to, but I have a niece we're trying to encourage to read, and she likes dragons and such. I think this might encourage her, but she needs a book with short chapters, it's between this and Unicorn Chronicles for her and her older sister.

Cassandra Yup! I first read it at age 11 or 12 or something, but 9-12 would love it. One of the best princess books out there!
