Myste 13+ While I think this would be fine for some younger readers, others might not understand a lot of the more grown-up issues in this book (such as wha…more13+ While I think this would be fine for some younger readers, others might not understand a lot of the more grown-up issues in this book (such as what it means for Max to be autistic, or what exactly a coma is). If you have an advanced, mature reader however, this should be fine. There is some brief violence but it's no worse than what you'd find on a mild episode of Law & Order. I don't recall any swearing and there is no gore; just some coming of age ideas (like that some children die young, marriages sometimes fall apart, and not all adults are good people).
