Toponyms, the dog's names, terrains, motives, parts of the background story etc. They removed or reduced the roles of important supporting characters such as Dr. Dobbler and Sam Vincent. There is more fireworks and walking away without looking at explosions. The structure of the main plot and the character roles are basically the same as in the book. The film is rather mediocre, the book is much better and more nuanced, in my opinion.(less)
