Show Us Where You Read

Posted by Hayley on May 1, 2015

Where do you read? Do you sprawl out in the park? Or do you have a cozy coffee shop with the perfect you-sized reading nook? Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, we want to see the view. We promise we won't get jealous—well, not too jealous—if you're currently reading on vacation, flipping pages on a balmy, sun-soaked beach. (Just take us with you next time, okay? San Francisco can get a little gloomy.)

Have you ever tried audiobooks? They're a pretty good option for travelling. I drive for a living and I listen to audiobooks instead of the radio.

message 257: by Emily (new)

Emily in bed at night or in the morning before I have to get up or on the sofa during the day. I need to start getting out more, find a nice place outside to read when the weather is nice.

message 258: by L. (new)

L. If it is a good book I can't put down, I'll take it with me to the bathroom. Don't worry, I won't take a picture.

message 266: by [deleted user] (last edited May 03, 2015 08:29AM) (new)

So many of us, I like to read in bed. Lol No pic from me. I like to read laying on my back in bed with my 20 lb orange tabby Rossco stretched out on top of me. He is my avatar.

message 281: by Elena (new)

Elena I go through a lot of books listening to them (audio book format) -- while doing chores at home, while driving, while walking to the library or nail salon and back, etc. Works for me very well. I also have books on kindle which i read just before going to bed or on weekends and i go through those 10 times slower than through audiobooks (because i cannot allow myself to seat and read when there is so much to do around the house or because i simply too tired).

message 282: by Jude (new)

Jude Where do I read?

In my big, comfy chair with my feet up and my cat in my lap. Alternately, sitting at the kitchen island while cooking or doing laundry.

message 283: by Janet (new)

Janet I read in bed, most comfortable place in my house.

message 284: by Turtlesoup (new)

Turtlesoup I never leave the house without a book! I read in offices waiting for appointments, standing in line at Walgreens, in the car, in bed when I can't sleep. My favorite place to read is in our recliner next to our big window that looks out over San Pablo Bay with my headphones on, blanket on my lap along with my big fluffy cat & a glass of wine. I just sink down into a bliss of Book Zen :)

message 285: by Rida (new)

Rida I read anywhere and everywhere, whenever I have time which isn't a lot. So yeah, bed, couch, living room, kitchen, road, subway, bus, classroom, beach, you name it. I've taken my books with with everywhere. =)

I'm the same way with books.

message 287: by Ilona (new)

Ilona I read on the sofa, at the table, in my bed, on trains and sometimes I just go to the library, pick a pile of books and sit somewhere to relax and read. For hours. During warm seasons I can read in my hammock or just spread a carpet/blanket on the ground and read there. Or lie down on a trampoline with a book.

I rarely leave the house without a book, there's almost always something to read in my bag or at least an e-book inside my phone.

message 288: by Midnight Blue (new)

message 289: by Gaby (new)

Gaby I usually read on my bed or outside in my backyard.

message 290: by Mike (new)

Mike Kenny honestly, i read during my lunch break at work. unfortunately there is a television in the break room and my coworkers can't sit for five seconds without having the stupid thing turned on at full volume. recently i've started listening to instrumental music with headphones to drown out the television so i can concentrate on what i'm reading.

message 291: by Line (new)

Line Petersen EVERYWHERE!

message 292: by Elena (new)

Elena Mike wrote: "honestly, i read during my lunch break at work. unfortunately there is a television in the break room and my coworkers can't sit for five seconds without having the stupid thing turned on at full ..."

I have the same problem at work. The only difference it is not TV, it is absolutely unintelligent conversations of co-workers But since recently I actually changed my attitude because I started to listen to beautiful classical music (Vivaldi, Chopin, etc.) with my sound isolating headphones and I really love it. I would not discover this joy without my co-workers so I am actually grateful to them now.

message 293: by Roberta (new)

Roberta in my bed and in in the train.

message 296: by Jorge (new)

Jorge de la Vega Everywhere I go I carry two books and the Kindle with me. I read on the subway, the bus, the park, at school, at home... it's difficult to find me without a book, truth be told. I also keep a few pocket-sized books in my car, just in case. Also, why is it considered rude when you open a book at a family reunion or something, yet everyone seems perfectly content to ignore everyone else with their phones?

message 297: by Nancy (new)

Nancy I read mostly just anywhere quiet and conducive. Home is the best place mostly in bed. Usually at work during my lunch break or under a shady tree in a quiet neighbourhood.

message 298: by David (new)
